The Everything Shower: My Favorite Slow Beauty Ritual
Those girlies on TikTok really know what they’re doing. I tried the latest wellness trend — the everything shower — and I have to say, I’m completely obsessed. What started as simple curiosity has now become one of my favorite ways to unwind. It’s more than just a shower; it’s a full reset — head to toe. The kind of thing that makes you feel clean, polished, and like you’ve got your life together again.
It’s not about a dozen complicated steps or luxury products (though I love a good serum moment). It’s about taking your time, doing each step properly, and walking out feeling fresh, smooth, and genuinely taken care of. The everything shower is that one routine I reach for when I want to feel good again — in my skin, in my space, and in my energy. It’s my home spa day.

Setting the Tone
Before I do anything, I make the space feel calm. I dim the lights, light a candle, and create that soft, cozy vibe. It’s such a simple switch, but it instantly tells my brain it’s time to wind down. I tie my hair back, cleanse my face if I’m wearing makeup, and put my phone away — just for a little while. No noise, no distractions.

A Few Essentials Before the Water
I like to start my routine with dry brushing. It’s a quick but effective way to boost circulation, exfoliate dead skin, and help smooth out any areas that feel congested or dull—especially if I’ve been sitting at a desk all day. I use light, upward strokes, starting from my feet and working toward my heart. It only takes a few minutes, but it instantly wakes up my skin and sets the tone for the rest of my routine.
After that, I move on to my hair. I apply a nourishing hair oil, focusing mainly on my scalp and ends. I work the oil in with a gentle scalp massage, which not only helps the product absorb better but also encourages blood flow and relaxes any tension I’ve been holding. It’s a small step, but it makes a big difference in how my hair feels—especially on days when it needs a little extra care.
Inside the Shower: Clean, Soft, Reset
Once the water’s running, everything slows down. I double shampoo to properly cleanse my scalp — especially if I’ve oiled it. The first rinse breaks down product buildup, and the second gives that fresh, clean feeling. After that, I apply a hair mask and leave it in while I finish the rest.
Volumizing Shampoo
I use a subtle body wash that smells fresh but not overpowering, then exfoliate with a gentle scrub. Nothing too harsh — just enough to smooth things out and keep my skin glowing. I’ll shave if needed, but I’ve been moving toward laser lately, and honestly, it’s a game changer. Low maintenance and totally worth it.
Post-Shower Hydration
Right after I step out of the shower, I go straight into moisturizing. I apply body lotion while my skin is still damp to help lock in hydration, then follow up with a lightweight body oil to seal it all in. This combo keeps my skin soft, hydrated, and smooth throughout the day.
Next, I move on to my face. I apply my serum, then moisturizer—no complicated steps, just the basics done right. Post-shower is when skincare really works best for me; products absorb better, and the process feels more intentional. It’s not just about cleansing—it’s about actually taking the time to care for my skin properly
Gua Sha & The Final Touches
After cleansing and applying facial oil or serum, I start my gua sha routine. I always begin at the neck and jawline, then move upward across the face. This helps promote circulation and reduce puffiness, but more importantly, it’s a consistent part of my skincare routine that supports overall skin health.
I follow the standard technique: using light to medium pressure, keeping the tool at a 15–30° angle, and repeating each stroke 3–5 times. I focus on areas like the jawline, cheeks, under eyes, and forehead, always moving upward and outward to encourage lymphatic drainage. I also finish by sweeping down the sides of the neck to support full drainage.
Aside from the face, I use a wooden gua sha tool on my body. It’s an easy and effective way to relax muscles and relieve tension at the end of the day.
Using gua sha regularly has helped with both puffiness and muscle tension, and it’s a simple addition to my routine that makes a noticeable difference.
By now, my hair is about 80% dry. I’ll apply a light oil and set it into silk heatless curls. It’s such a small thing, but waking up with bouncy, no-heat waves the next morning always feels like a win.
Optional, But Always Worth It
I usually finish with a red light mask or some under-eye patches. Then it’s tea, a fresh set of pajamas, and a book. No pressure. Just comfort.
This isn’t about being high-maintenance. It’s about being intentional. Every step is simple — and it doesn’t need to be perfect. It’s just about giving yourself the time to slow down, reset, and feel a little more like you again.
